Diego Benavides, Presidente Ejecutivo of Minera IRL South America, spoke to us about operating in Peru and the CSR projects undertaken by his company in what is considered by some to be a tricky nation to work in.

Yet Benavides believes that this reputation is down to companies 'not doing their homework', and that 'at the end of the day, if you don't have good relations with your community, then you don't have a project.' 

And Minera back up their social credentials with the rare step of giving the local community at the Ollachea project a 5% stake in the mine profits (which 'shocked' other mining companies according to Benavides) as well as negotiating directly with the community for a mining license of 30 years: be sure to watch the whole interview.
