MSF to Close Operations at Ebola Epicenter

Doctors Without Borders has said that the CMC in Foya, Lofa County has not recorded new admissions in the past 10 days, and since 30 October there have been no confirmed Ebola cases. MSF further disclosed that its teams are now reducing CMC capacity from 25 to 10 beds and may eventually close down by end of November.

Resurgence of Ebola in Bong County

Star Africa--Reports from central Bong County say the county health team has reported 22 new cases of Ebola over a period of one week, despite huge reduction in the number of cases across the country.Media reports Monday quote the Bong County Health Team Administrator Fatorma Jusu as saying 10 of the 22 cases are confirmed, one probable and eleven suspected. Jusu attributed the emergence of new Ebola cases in the county to the outbreak in Taylor-ta that has now crossed over to Bomota and Gbatala, all of which are adjacent to Taylor-Ta in Yelequelleh District, Bong County.

Mali confirms 2 new cases of Ebola virus disease

Mali Ebola situation assessment 25 November 2014 Mali?s Ministry of Health has confirmed an additional 2 new cases of Ebola virus disease. The first, confirmed on 22 November, occurred in the 23-year-old fiancée of the 25-year-old nurse who attended the Grand Imam from Guinea (the index case in this outbreak) and died of Ebola on 11 November. The young woman developed symptoms on 19 November and, on 20 November, was hospitalized in isolation at Bamako?s Ebola treatment centre, a new facility which opened last week. Because of her association with the nurse, most of her close contacts were already under surveillance. Her case was detected early in the disease course. Her quick isolation has further reduced opportunities for community exposures. The second new case is part of a family of previously confirmed and deceased patients. The visit occurred as the Government announced a new case of Ebola and said 2 more suspected patients were being tested. At least 5 people have died from Ebola in Mali already, and the country has been working diligently to trace several hundred contacts of the recent Ebola cases to prevent extensive spread of the disease in the country. Guardian--Health workers in Kenema, Sierra Leone, say they have not been paid their hazard allowance for seven weeks Bodies of Ebola victims have been dumped outside a hospital in Sierra Leone by burial workers, who are protesting at the failure of authorities to pay them bonuses for their hazardous work, residents have said.Tensions in the eastern town of Kenema reached new heights with the action by members of the burial teams. Sierra Leone: UK Selects IOM to Manage Ebola Training Facility in Sierra Leone

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland IOM Sierra Leone has been awarded a 6-month GBP 4.19 million contract by the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) to manage an Ebola Training Academy in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Currently managed by the UK Ministry of Defence, the academy provides a comprehensive 3-day training programme for frontline Ebola practitioners deploying to operate Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs) throughout Sierra Leone. The training programme, which can graduate over 3,000 health care workers a month, includes modules on the principles of an ETU, donning / removing of personal protective equipment, and cleaning in an ETU. It features a model ETU for practical training. IOM will manage the academy in close collaboration with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation and Armed Forces Medical Unit.
