Evaluating the impact of aid
An article from the UK Guardian's social impact hub last Friday - a site sponsored, interestingly enough, by Anglo American (whose publicly-disclosed CSR work we summarise on our regional mapping pages here). It's a brief and easily-digestible outline of how and why "dominant methods used to evaluate the impact of aid often fall short". While it's aimed at large-scale aid programmes there are lessons in here for national and regional level programming and some interesting links onward to further information and practical tools and frameworks. Well worth a look for the aspirant CSR planner.
